Mary Elizabeth Potter, 56, a former Ridgefielder, died in her sleep on Wednesday, June 15 at her home in Sandy Hook.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1959 to Richard and Pauline Potter of Ridgefield and attended Ridgefield schools and went on to earn her associate’s degree in mental health from Naugatuck Community College. She worked for nearly 20 years at Southbury Training School.

She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Marie Capozziello, and eight siblings and their spouses: Patrick and Kimberly Potter of New Milford; Christopher and Mary Potter of Bethlehem; Suzanne and Noel Shumsky of Mashpee, Mass.; Luann Bianco of Westfield, Mass.; Madelene and Leroy Pryor of Pittsburgh, Penn.; Hugh and Helly Potter of Orange; Barbara and Jimmy Wilson of Danbury and Margaret and Richard Barese of Danbury.

She was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Wren Potter. Services will be private. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at the Disabled American Veterans Hall on Segur Avenue, Danbury, on Saturday, July 9, from 4 p.m.to 9 p.m.
