Marlene Saviano, 65, Ridgefield teacher
Marlene Calitri Saviano age, a longtime Norwalk resident, died Monday, Nov. 3, of cystic fibrosis at Norwalk Hospital with her family by her side. Mrs. Saviano, 65, was the wife of John J. Saviano.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1949, in Norwalk to the late John J. and Jean Zoppi Calitri.
Mrs. Saviano graduated from UConn and received her master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Marlene was a special education teacher in the Ridgefield school system for many years, teaching at both the middle and high schools. Marlene was also a head teacher with the middle school autistic program in Darien.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her two sisters, Sandra Calitri Schutte of Ada, Mich., and Debra Manuel of Shelton; her four brothers, John Calitri of New Canaan, Tim Calitri, Roy Calitri and David Calitri, all of Norwalk; and her godson, William Schutte. She was predeceased by her nephew, Troy Schutte; and her dog, Tasha.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, at 10, at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, from 4-8, at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.
