Lydia Hagen, 98, active in church work
Lydia (Kirmss) Hagen, 98 of Ridgefield, wife of the late George Hagen, died on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Hagen was born in Brooklyn, NY, December 20, 1913, daughter of Richard and Katherine (Gaulrapp) Kirmss. She attended Brooklyn schools and graduated from Bay Ridge High School.
A former resident of Pearl River, NY, she was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered to serve on many committees. She and her husband retired to St. Petersburg FL. She moved to Danbury in 2001 to be close to her family and later moved to Ridgefield where she lived out the rest of her life at Ridgefield Crossing.
Mrs. Hagen dedicated her life to her family and church. She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and became a Grand Officer. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Ridgefield.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol O'Shaughnessy of Columbus, NJ and her husband, John; a son in law, Robert Logan of Brookfield, CT; four grandchildren, Bobby Logan, Michael Logan, Kathleen Cobb and John O'Shaughnessy and eight great grandchildren, Ralph Logan, Taylor Logan, Lauren Logan, Austin Logan, Kami Logan, Meghan Cobb, Cailiosa Cobb and John G. O'Shaughnessy.
Mrs. Hagen was predeceased by her husband George and by a daughter, Marilyn Logan.
A Prayer Service will be conducted in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 7 PM conducted by Pastor Karla Meier of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Ridgefield.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM.
Entombment will take place in Serenity Gardens, Largo, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Andrews Church would be appreciated.
