Joan (Gilbert) Grant of Ridgefield, wife of the late Frank R. Grant, died on Friday, May 6, at her home following a short illness. She was 84.

She was born in Bridgeport on Dec. 10, 1931, daughter of William and Mary (MacPherson) Gilbert. The family moved from Bridgeport to Westchester County, N.Y., where she attended local schools and graduated from Port Chester High School in the Class of 1949.

In 1956, she moved to Stamford and was employed with Pitney Bowes. She married in September of 1957. For the past 45 years, she has been a resident of Ridgefield while employed at the former Digitech and later at Boehringer Ingelheim where she was the administrative assistant to the vice president of marketing.

Mrs. Grant was referred to as a ‘fabulous baker,’ and enjoyed penning cards for all occasions to family and friends. She was a lover of animals, especially dogs. In additions to her many interests, she was a fan of the N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Giants and UConn women Huskies.

She is survived by a son, Frank “Chip” Grant of Ridgefield; brothers-in-law; sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be private.
