James Sullivan, a former Ridgefielder and marshal, died on Monday, May 23, at Danbury Hospital. He was 70.

Born on June 15, 1945 in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late James and Catherine (Clancy) Sullivan. He was a State of Connecticut marshal and had lived in the greater Danbury and Ridgefield area for the past 45 years.

He was a member of Temple Shir Shalom of Ridgefield and he enjoyed art, reading, politics and golf.

He is survived by his son, Christopher, of Manchester. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Sullivan of Milford; a sister, Shaileen Kopec of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and by two nieces, Christina and Elizabeth Kopec. He is also survived by his former wife, Madelynn Sullivan of Narragansett, RI.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, James Patrick.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 31, at 12:30 p.m. in Temple Shir Shalom, 46 Peaceable St., Ridgefield with Rabbi David Reiner officiating.

Interment will follow in Mapleshade Cemetery, Ridgefield. The family will receive friends at Temple Shir Shalom on Tuesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
