James P. Gregory, 78, attorney, zoning chair, Little League president
James P. Gregory, 78, passed away on Friday January 11 after a short illness.
Beloved husband of Joan Senior Gregory for 55 years, Jim lived in Ridgefield for 47 years.
After graduating from Brown University and serving in the Army, Jim attended George Washington University School of Law and started his long and distinguished legal career as a corporate lawyer.
After clerking for Chief Judge Marvin Jones of the United States Court of Claims, Jim worked in the legal department of Pfizer Inc. and was associated with Cummings & Lockwood. He became the Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Perkin-Elmer Corporation and later served as Vice President and General Counsel of Danbury Hospital and was on the Board of Directors of Danbury Hospital and the Danbury Hospital Development Fund Inc.
He was also Secretary and Treasurer of Lorad Medical Systems Inc. Before retiring in 1999, Jim was counsel for the Pinney Payne law firm.
Jim was a former President of the Ridgefield Little League, a Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and acted as an impartial arbitrator for commercial matters.
Jim was a devoted family man and in addition to his wife is survived by three children, Clayton and his wife Lisa of Norwalk, Mark and his wife Kara of Darien and Karen of Stamford, eight grandchildren, Connor, Ryan, Megan, Matthew, Nicole, Jaime, Kimberly and Clare, as well as his sister, Marilyn Gagliardi of Wethersfield.
He was an avid sports fan and among his hobbies, Jim looked forward to his bridge games at Founders Hall. Jim will be greatly missed as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, in-law and cousin.
A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2013.
