Irene Pierce, 96, artist and homemaker
Irene Pierce, 96, of Ridgefield, wife of the late Edson "Ed" Pierce died on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Hancock Hall, Danbury.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Canada, August 24, 1916, daughter of William "Bill" and Jessie (Kay) Ellis and immigrated to the United States shortly after her birth with her family settling in Braintree, MA. She attended Braintree schools and later moved to Suffield, CT, Baltimore, Maryland and in 1970 moved to Ridgefield.
Mrs. Pierce was an artist and homemaker.
She was a member of WeCahr, the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Founders Hall, Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, its Stephen's Ministry and a member of the Women's Circle.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Pierce-Crowley; four sons, Rodney, Byron, Noel and Peter; a sister, Mary Goodwin; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on April 6, 2013 at 11 AM in the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, Ridgefield.
Interment will take place prior to the Celebration of Life Service in Ridgebury Cemetery, Ridgefield.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Main St., Ridgefield 06877 or to Regional Hospice and Home Care, 405 Main St. or Hancock Hall Resident's Recreational Fund, 31 Staples St., both of Danbury 06810 would be appreciated.
