Irene D. Sluis, 81, of Ridgefield, died on October 28, 2012 at Danbury Hospital.

She was born February 4, 1931 in Chicago Heights, IL daughter of the late Henry and Hilda Heine Tatgenhorst of Matteson, IL.

She retired as a secretary for Andersen Consulting.

Survivors include two daughters and one son, Gayle and Arn Wachs of Fort Collins, CO, Holly and Bob Lopez of Burlington, CT, and Bruce Sluis and Lee Boucino of Bristol, CT; five grandchildren, Lauryn and Kate Wachs, Amy and Alexandria Lopez and Kyle Sluis; two brothers, Glenn Tatgenhorst of Ridgefield and Howard Tatgenhorst of Tinley Park, IL, and two sisters-in-law, Betty Tatgenhorst of Guyton, GA and Marion Tatgenhorst of Tinley Park, IL as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Tatgenhorst and Kenneth Tatgenhorst.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 7 pm in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 1 pm.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 pm to 8pm.
