Harriet Kandel, mother of Marcia Carroll, died with her daughter by her side on Dec. 17, just short of her 102nd birthday.

She lived at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center for more than seven years and prior to that was a resident of New Rochelle and the Bronx, N.Y.

She was born in the Bronx, Dec. 30, 1912.

She had a career prior to marrying Emanuel Kandel in 1951. They were married for 37 years until his death.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her son-in-law, James Carroll of Ridgefield, and her granddaughters, Lauren and Dana Carroll, whom her family described as the focal point of her life. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Lomrantz, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she enjoyed having visit her at home.

She was predeceased by her brother, Eddie Bender, and her sister, Beatrice Orbach. The family would like to thank the Laurel Ridge staff for its excellent care and many years of friendship and dedication.

There was a private burial on Long Island and shiva was on Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in her memory.
