Frank P. Montanari, 88, World War II veteran, business leader
Frank P. Montanari, 88, of Danbury, CT and Treasure Island, FL, died peacefully at his Danbury home on Thursday, April 19, 2013.
Mr. Montanari was born in Ridgefield, CT, December 22, 1924, son of the late Ciro and Teresa (Archille) Montanari. Frank attended the Ridgefield school system and graduated from Ridgefield High School.
He was married to Linnea H. Montanari of Danbury, CT.
Mr. Montanari was a World War II Army veteran stationed in Hawaii. He was a member of the Italian American Mutual Aid Society. In 1946, Mr. Montanari and his brother Fred started Montanari Fuel Company where Frank served as president for many years.
In addition to his wife Linnea, he is survived by a son, Paul of Ridgefield, CT and a daughter Ellen J. Montanari, of Danbury, CT. His brother Andy Montanari, daughter in law, Elizabeth A. Montanari, and his grandson, James W. Montanari, also survive him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Montanari was predeceased by his brothers, Gus and Fred Montanari, and a sister, Vera Grosso.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Ridgefield.
Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Ridgefield.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
