Cecile F. Smith, 71, longtime Ridgefielder
Cecile F, Smith, 71 of Ridgefield, wife of the late Edward R. Smith died on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Bethel Health Care, Bethel, CT.
Mrs. Smith was born in New York, New York, January 15, 1941, daughter of the late Raymond E. and Beatrice G. (DeMars) Collett. She attended New York schools and received her Bachelor's degree from Our Lady of Good Counsel College and her Master's degree from Hunter College.
An educator in the Bronx, NY for many years, she was also an educator at the Melrose School, Brewster, NY for twenty-seven years.
Mrs. Smith cherished the time she would spend with her grandchildren, Madison and Emily.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1968 coming from the Bronx, Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Mary Parish.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret "Meg" McVey and her husband, Andrew of Ridgefield; a son, Douglas J. Smith and his wife, Justine of Bethel, CT; a brother, Charles R. Collett and his wife, Mary Jane of Bronxville, NY; two grandchildren, Madison Smith and Emily McVey as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield with the Rev. Russell Augustine, Parochial Vicar officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 4 PM to 8PM.
