Carla Mason Ness, 59, performing artist
Carla Mason Ness of Ridgefield, Connecticut passed away on October 18, 2014 in State College, PA after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on April 14, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA. Carla was a 1973 graduate of State College Area High School and attended American University where she studied theater and dance.
Carla was signed early in her career by Ford, Zoli and AVA modeling agencies in New York City. In addition to a successful modeling career, her diverse resume included work in theater, tv & film, and cabaret. Carla dedicated her life to the arts and was a lifelong student of acting, dance and voice. As a well-versed inspirational vocalist and actress, Carla enjoyed bringing peace and hope to the terminally ill and disabled. She had a passion for Celtic, Spiritual and Gospel music. Carla also had a sharp wit and comedic talent. She loved to entertain her friends and family with stories of the many interesting and colorful characters she met throughout her life, and in particular, those she met growing up in central Pennsylvania.
In addition to the arts, Carla’s other great love was that of nature and animals. She was an animal rights activist and humanitarian.
Carla attended South Salem Presbyterian Church in South Salem, NY and is survived by her father, Charles H. Ness of State College, Pa and two sisters, Megan Ness Brooks of Alexandria, VA and Diana Ness Stevens of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She is predeceased by her mother, Sara Krone Ness.
A private graveside service will be held at Spring Creek Cemetery in State College, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Carla’s name to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org orP.O.
