To the Ridgefield Community:

Our family would like to extend our condolences to the families of Ryan Adams and Ryan Meegan, our daughter Carey’s friends.

Although we are experiencing intractable pain at the loss of our darling daughter, we are humbled by the outpouring of care and support from so many individuals and groups. We have received hundreds of condolence notes, mass cards, perpetual remembrances, flowers, meals and generous contributions to the Carey V. Depuy Kindness Scholarship Fund.

While we cannot iterate here each and every person who has reached out to us over the past weeks, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to St. Mary’s Parish and School community, especially the clergy and teaching staff; Ridgefield High School administration, teachers and staff; the RHS Girls Cross Country, Volleyball, and Lacrosse teams; the Cross Country and Volleyball teams and coaches who dedicated a meet and game to Carey’s memory, which meant so much to us; Connecticut Family Orthopaedics and the medical community; Lakeside Field Club members; Reliant Air; Han Dol of Danbury and the martial arts community; the Ridgefield Recreation Center staff and members; Squash’s; the Ridgefield Running Company, and many others.  We also so greatly appreciate the Colgate University administration and community, including the Colgate Girls Cross Country team and coach, who travelled to Ridgefield for Carey’s wake.

It is difficult to express our gratitude through our breaking hearts.  Carey’s kindness touched scores of friends, classmates, teachers, teammates and neighbors.  Since her death, the extent of Carey’s reach and impact on the world around her, in her too short life, has been reflected back to us though so many acts of kindness and compassion from the entire Ridgefield community – thank you.

Carey, we love you so, ‘twas heaven here with you.
