Anne Rettger, mother of Ridgefielder Michael Rettger, died July 14, in Ridgefield at age 90. She had been a resident of Laurel Ridge Health Care Center since moving to Ridgefield in 2012.

She was born July 22, 1925 in Cementon, N.Y., daughter of Simon and Katherine (Nemec) Mucich. She graduated from Catskill (N.Y.) High School, and worked in Albany and New York City before moving to Easton, Pa., where she met and married Joseph Rettger in 1950.

She liked sewing and was an avid quilter, receiving many awards at local fairs and craft shows for her quilts. She also enjoyed playing bridge, walking outdoors, and was a civic volunteer, a frequent contributor of letters to the editor, and an organizer for the “new public library” in Phillipsburg, N.J. in 1969.

Besides her son Michael and his wife Terry of Ridgefield, she is survived by a brother, Frank Mucich of Catskill, N.Y.; daughters Catherine Azzone and her husband John of Fayetteville, Pa.; Joan Fortin and her husband David of Woodstock, and Mary Beth Rettger and her husband Roy Lurie of Natick, Mass.; a son Philip Rettger and his wife Diane of Moraga, Calif.,and nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, and her sister Mildred (Mucich) Dunn of Green River, N.Y.

Memorial services and burial will take place in Catskill at a date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to an Alzheimer’s association.
