The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the construction of a parapet on the rear lower roof of the Main Street building that houses Planet Pizza and Amatuzzi Optometrists at its July 17 meeting.

Thomas Stalzer, who submitted the application on behalf of building owner George Amatuzzi, said the parapet addition is intended to “help conceal lower rooftop mechanical equipment.”

Stalzer’s Norwalk-based company, Stalzer Design LLC, plans to build a low wall along a building’s roofline

The plan would also replace siding “to provide a more presentable appearance at the rear entrance,” Stalzer said.

The eight commissioners present all voted to approve the renovations to the rear of the building, with an effective date of July 27. Commissioner Tim Dunphy was absent from the meeting.
