Wind damage: Ridgefield Transfer Station closed
The Ridgefield Transfer Station has experienced some damage to its main building on South Street and will be closed until further notice.
"The transfer station will reopen once the winds have calmed and crews can safely make repairs," the Town of Ridgefield said on its Facebook page Monday, Feb. 25.
Residents are asked to call the transfer station at 203-431-4137 before making a trip there.
Elsewhere in town
Strong winds caused power outages around town Monday.
Northern Ridgefield was hit the worst, with four public schools receiving early dismissal due to outages.
More than a 1,000 residents were without power as of noon.
The Ridgefield Police Department reported 15 roads blocked due to downed trees and power lines.
