A Stamford-based tutoring and college-prep service is seeking a change-of-use permit for the building that was vacated by Stormguard in January 2018. The building, located at 135 Ethan Allen Highway, is adjacent to Nod Hill Brewery on Route 7.

Stamford Polytechnic, a tutoring service for what its website calls “gifted students,” has expressed interest in the space.

“These are high-level tutors for SATs, and also high level math and chemistry, not your typical get into college stuff, but for those who want to go to Ivy League schools,” said Michael Greenberg, the owner who is applying to revise the building’s permitted uses under special permit from the town planning and zoning office.

The plan does not call for exterior renovations, and Greenberg said there won’t be much work to do inside the building.

“There’ll be various offices so they can have individual tutoring,” Greenberg said.

A public hearing on the change of use will be scheduled after the commission walks the site.
