Selectmen plan budget meetings next week

Four days of budget meetings lie ahead for the Board of Selectmen, with rising health insurance costs threatening to complicate efforts to hold the line at a 0% increase in the selectmen’s $38-million budget for town departments and road work.

The Board of Education is doing its own work on a more than $98-million request from Interim Superintendent JeanAnn Paddyfote, which represents a 3.43% increase.

The selectmen’s budget meetings are scheduled Monday, Feb. 4, Tuesday, Feb. 5, and Thursday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. In town hall’s lower level conference room.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, a regular selectmen’s meeting is scheduled starting at 7:30 p.m. in the same room, with budget discussions listed at the end of the agenda.
