Pond-dredging business Sacred Waters gets June 5 zoning hearing

A special permit for a home-based, pond-dredging service business at 6 Clearview Drive will have a public hearing Tuesday, June 5.

The company, Sacred Waters, is asking the Planning and Zoning Commission for approval of a “major home occupation,” which under town zoning regulations allows the homeowner to have a business with two or more non-resident employees, or regular visitors to the business.

The name drew some questions from the commission.

“It’s not a religious organization, it’s a pond-dredging operation,” Chairwoman Rebecca Mucchetti said.

“Is [the owner] a priest?” quipped commissioner John Katz.

Attorney Bob Jewell responded that the owner, John Keegan, was not religiously affiliated.
