Parade on! Mother Nature cooperates, Main Street to host Memorial Day marchers for first time since 2015

Ridgefield will have its Memorial Day parade.

That’s the news Denis Loncto, the American Legion’s parade coordinator, announced Monday around 7:30 a.m.

"We're going to have a Memorial Day parade for a change," he told The Press.

"The parade will launch off from Jesse Lee at 11:30 this morning," he said.

The parade was cancelled in town in 2016 when the weather broke favorably after a forecast of thunderstorms and heavy winds. In 2017, the parade was washed out — leaving Ridgefielders without a parade for two consecutive years.

The wait is officially over, and didn't take long for some residents to react — and celebrate. Chairs were being set up down Main Street as of 8 a.m. for this year's parade, which is set to start at 11:30 a.m.

The grand marshal will be Dave Campbell, a Navy vet who served in Vietnam.
