Silver Spring Country Club will received a public hearing on April 3 for its proposal to install sound-absorbing panels on its paddle tennis courts, and to extend the paddle board season from Sept. 15 to April 1.

The club, located at 439 Silver Spring Road, first presented the extension at a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting in February.

“Some of the neighbors spoke about concerns about sound and light as a result of the paddle board courts,” said Assistant Planner Adam Schnell. Neighbors also expressed concerns about the club extending its paddle board hours, Schnell said.

The commission asked that attorney Bob Jewell come back with more information on similar cases where the sound-absorbing materials had been used. They also asked for clarification on the club’s plans to change how the courts are lit.
