‘The Blue Orb’ lights up Farmingville Elementary
A few weeks ago, Farmingville Elementary School gave two performances of The Blue Orb, an original play written by Rich Cohen, father of a Farmingville student and a writer.
It’s the story of a young boy, Ziggy, and young girl, Hilde, who go out into the mountains and find a powerful and magical Blue Orb that does something strange to time. After some fun, they realize that the power of the Blue Orb is great and should not be taken lightly. They are guided by an Oracle and Obi Yoda Solo. When they decide the Blue Orb must be put back, they face three obstacles: a witch, a sphinx from Mars, and a persistent north wind. In the end, they go back to the place where they started with more than a few lessons learned.
The play was performed by 46 fourth and fifth grade actors on March 23. All actors had lines and singing and dancing parts.
