Scotland principal resigns, search for interim to begin next month
Joanna Genovese has resigned from her position as principal of Scotland Elementary School.
Scotland parents called for Genovese's dismissal at a Board of Education meeting in late June, citing negligence to children’s safety in school and inappropriate behavior on social media.
The public school system announced soon after that meeting they were investigating Genovese.
Interim superintendent JeanAnn Paddyfote, who took over for former superintendent Karen Baldwin on July 9, said in a press release Wednesday that she will hire an interim principal for Scotland in August.
"It is anticipated an interim principal will work through October while the district conducts a search for a principal to lead Scotland Elementary School," she said. "The search process will commence in August ... board members will be informed in September."
