A three-hour delay for Ridgefield Public Schools has been turned into a full-day closure Wednesday, Jan. 30.

"Ridgefield Public Schools will be closed today, January 30, based on the forecast for snow squalls with high winds at the time of school dismissal," the school district said on its Twitter account at 7:41 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service predicts scattered snow squalls between 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

“Heads up for those on the road during the Wednesday PM commute as near white-out conditions will be possible as it will be pouring snow out of some of these forecast squalls,” the report said.

In addition to the snow, Gov. Ned Lamont has activated the Severe Cold Weather Protocol from Wednesday to Sunday “to ensure the most vulnerable populations receive protection from the severe cold.”
