A phone-charging station at the high school library, an author talk at Scotts Ridge Middle School, and kindergarten books at Veterans Park Elementary — these were some of the gifts, grants, and donations Ridgefield Public Schools received in the 2017-18 school year from parents, PTA associations, and corporate donors.

All told, the schools received $56,076 in gifts throughout the year — not including $13,000 in gifts from Ridgefield Education Foundation.

The two largest recipients of gifts were Farmingville Elementary and the high school, which took in a little over $12,000 each.

The largest gift this year was $6,762 for a new 100 square-foot drop-down screen in the high school’s auditorium, donated by the school’s PTSA.

The Board of Education began reporting on gifts the district had received in January of 2017.

Gifts and bequests over $2,000 have to come before the board for approval.
