Route 116 will remain closed\u00a0Thursday, Jan. 31, following\u00a0a utility pole crash earlier in the morning. Ridgefield Capt. Shawn Platt said the state highway, also known as North Salem Road, will be shutdown\u00a0through Thursday evening commuter hours. He said the road would likely remain closed until 6 p.m. if not later.\u00a0 Fire police have set up detours at the\u00a0intersections of Maple Shade Road and Route 116 and Barrack Hill Road and Route 116. Traffic is be detoured from Maple Shade Road to North Street and then\u00a0 down to Wooster Street, where drivers can reconnect onto Route 116.\u00a0 Platt advised drivers to avoid the area.\u00a0 Platt said the collision was a single-vehicle accident, and that he believed the driver was the only person involved in the accident. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and police have not released the identity of the driver. He said no injuries were reported on the scene. Platt said an Eversource supervisor is currently at the scene assessing the damage.
