Volunteer firefighters seek alternative location for carnival

Is the annual Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department carnival cancelled this year?

Not yet.

Despite a May 21 Facebook post indicating that the carnival wouldn’t be held in 2018, Volunteer Deputy Chief Tim Pambianchi told The Press that the RVFD is currently looking at alternative sites.

“No official decision has been made for the site of the carnival,” he said Thursday, May 31.

"We are working with property owners in Ridgefield," he added. "We will have an official decision early next week — Monday or Tuesday."

The event, which benefits the Ridgefield Fire Department, is traditionally held on the grounds of East Ridge Middle School during the last weekend in June.

The volunteer firefighters can’t host the carnival at East Ridge this summer because school will be in session until Friday, June 29.
