Storm damage: Tuesday lightning causes road closures, downed wires, and fires
Ridgefield is already beginning to feel the effects of Tuesday's thunderstorms. Both the fire and police departments have responded to downed tree wires and utility pole fires less than a hour into the storm.
Below is a list of the storm damage. The Press will keep it updated until the storm passes through town.
- Bobby's Court is closed off because of a downed live wire. The wire is down at 3 Bobby's Court.
- External smoke damage has been reported at 60 Twin Ridge Road. It was caused by lightning striking a chimney. Part of the chimney has collapsed. All utilities have been turned off.
- Fire department has reported a tree and pole on fire at 227 Branchville Road. The spark was caused by lightning.
