Ridgefield man arrested after assaulting, threatening firefighter

A Spring Valley Road man was arrested for assault on a public safety official at police headquarters on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Police said the 39-year-old man turned himself in at 12:45 p.m. on an outstanding warrant. He was also charged with second-degree threatening.

According to a report, the man grabbed a Ridgefield firefighter by the arm and shoved him to the ground at his Spring Valley Road home back on Sept. 5. Police said Nelson also spat at and threatened the firefighter.

He was released from custody after posting $2,500 in bond. He is due to appear in court Friday, Oct. 12.
