Brooklyn teen arrested for using counterfeit money at Valero
A 18-year-old woman from Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested for first-degree forgery at the Valero gas station on Danbury Road Thursday, June 27, at 9:17 p.m.
Ridgefield police said the teenager tried paying for gas with a counterfeit $20 bill.
According to a report, the bill was identified as counterfeit when the cashier used a counterfeit pen on the bill.
"This appeared to be an isolated incident. Business owners should always use what ever method they normally use when determining whether a bill is counterfeit,” said Ridgefield Police Capt. Shawn Platt Monday, July 1.
The suspect was released after paying a $100 bond and given a court date of Wednesday, July 10.
