Bissell Pharmacy, The Ridgefield Prevention Council, and the town Police Department announced they will be holding a prescription drug take-back event on Saturday, April 28th. People can drop off any unwanted prescription or over-the-counter medications at Bissell Pharmacy, 23 Governor Street, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The take-back event is free and completely anonymous. Those who attend can drop off the medication without getting out of their car.

“Prescription drugs that languish in medicine cabinets create a public health and safety concern because they are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse,” the police said in a press release.

Everything collected at the event will be taken to an incineration facility by the police.

Can’t make it to the April 28th event? The department reminded residents that police headquarters at 76 East Ridge Road also has a take-back box in the front lobby available 24/7, every day of the year. Medication drop-offs at the police department can also be done anonymously.
