Big Shop Lane accident leads to DUI arrest (UPDATE)

A 50-year-old North Salem, N.Y., woman was arrested on Danbury Road for driving under the influence and evading the scene of an accident at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday, March 5.
Ridgefield police Capt. Shawn Platt said the female driver seen was backing out of a parking space in the Big Shop Lane parking lot around 5:10 p.m. when she struck an unoccupied vehicle. The accident created minor damage, a police report said.
Police received a description of the vehicle in question from an eyewitness at the scene of the crash.
"An officer en-route to the area, saw a vehicle matching the description in the parking lot of 46B Danbury Road," Platt said. "Officers made contact with [the suspect] and determined that [she] was involved at the accident."
According to Platt, the woman told the officer that she inspected the damage and left a note.
"No note was found on the damaged vehicle," Platt said.
She was given a field sobriety test on scene and failed, police said.
She was brought to police headquarters where she was processed and released after posting bond. She is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court Tuesday, March 19.
Editor's note: An earlier version of this story said the suspect was arrested at 11 p.m. at police headquarters. Platt corrected that original report and said she was arrested on scene at Danbury Road at 5:29 p.m., shortly after the time of the accident. The earlier version of this story also stated that the woman left a business card at the scene. Platt corrected that part of the report, as well.
