Richard Vazzana has been recognized as the Rotary Club of Ridgefield\u2019s 2018 Citizen of the Year for his many years of service to the Ridgefield community \u201cRichard is an accomplished business executive who has served Ridgefield in numerous leadership roles since moving here over 20 years ago,\u201d said fellow Rotarian Joe Savino. He served as president of the Lounsbury House (Ridgefield\u2019s Community Center) as it underwent a major renovation. He was also on the board of directors of the Keeler Tavern, \u00a0 and most recently was a board member and vice president of the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. He has been a past president of the Ridgefield Rotary, and currently serves as a Rotary assistant district governor. He served as a volunteer on Ridgefield\u2019s Charter Revision Commission, and was on the board of directors of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. \u00a0 \u201cRichard exemplifies the Rotary motto of Service Above Self,\u201d Savino said. The club will host a Citizen of the Year event at the Silver Spring Country Club Wednesday, June 27. \u00a0 Cocktails will start at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow. Tickets are $85 and may be purchased online. The proceeds from the event are returned to deserving charities via the Rotary grant process.
