The town’s Planning and Zoning Commission will add an extra monthly meeting to its 2018 schedule.

The commission announced last week that it would meet on the last Tuesday of every month — previously reserved as an “off day” for commission members. These additional sessions will be open to the public, and will be used to discuss planning issues — not newly submitted zoning applications.

The additional meetings were brought up as a possibility at the end of 2017, as several members felt the high number of public hearings throughout the year had limited the time the commission had to talk about planning issues affecting the town.

The commission will not schedule any hearings during the additional meetings, Planning and Zoning Chairwoman Rebecca Mucchetti confirmed to The Press.
