
West Conn: Gun suspect was carrying mic stand
A school employee carrying a mic stand — believed to be a rifle — caused Western Connecticut State University's midtown campus to lockdown Monday afternoon.
"An employee was the person identified as possibly carrying a gun, but it was a piece of equipment — a mic stand. All clear," the university wrote in an emergency alert email to students and faculty at 2:06 p.m. Monday, June. 4.
The campus was on lockdown for a little more than 90 minutes.
At one point, it was believed Danbury and state police were searching for a second suspect.
No gunshots were fired, state police confirmed after the lockdown was put into effect.
Several area high schools, including Danbury High School, was put in a temporary lockdown as police locked down the scene.
