The second annual “Walk for Mike” will take place Sunday, Dec. 2, 10 a.m. at RVNA parking lot.

The event began last year in memory of Ridgefield resident and avid walker, Michael Nardone.

“Mike walked the streets and neighborhoods of Ridgefield every day, in every type of weather with a wave and a smile on his face,” said organizer Debbie Haughney. “He often stopped to talk to many Ridgefield residents over the years and always remembered details about their lives.”

Nardone passed away last Thanksgiving and over 250 residents took a walk in his memory a few weeks later hoping to make it an annual event.

The two-mile stroll will include a walk along Main Street, where residents can meet new people and “Live Life like Mike.”

Haughney requests attendees not wear headphones. There will also be a food collection for the Ridgefield Food Pantry.
