Touchdowns for Tomorrow raises $5,000 for local nonprofits

Ridgefield youth football players are giving back to their community — one touchdown at a time.

Touchdowns for Tomorrow, a program started within the Ridgefield Youth Football League, helped raised $4,757 this past season.

Third grade players raised $1,026 for the RVNA; fourth graders raised $675 for We Will Ride Therapeutic Horse Riding; fifth graders raised $2,000 for the Boys & Girls Club; sixth graders raised $457 for the Molly Ann Tango Foundation; and the seventh grade team raised $600 for Meals on Wheels.

The first-year program had each team choose a charity, and saw a member from each charity come down to the field and explain what the charity was about and how the kids’ pledges would help.

At the year-end party for each team, the charity spokesperson came and the kids presented the check.

“I’m excited to make it bigger and better next year,” said parent organizer Anne Tasch. “If anyone would like to be on the list to donate for next year, they can email me directly and I will have a player reach out to them next year.”
