Ridgefield Shoe Repair at 15 Danbury Road has a new owner.

George Togridis, who is also the owner of Greenwich Shoe Repair, re-opened the store in the middle of October. He was approached from the shop’s landlords after the previous owner fell ill and closed the store that had been open for several decades.

Togridis brings 30-plus years of experience in the shoe repair industry to Ridgefield.

“Ridgefield still had a demand for a cobbler in town,” his wife, Georgia, told The Press. “We’re thrilled to be here and excited for the opportunity to expand our business even further.”

Togridis learned the trade when he was just a teenager from his father, who had opened his very first shoe repair in New Canaan, when he migrated from Greece.

“Although we are not from Ridgefield, it does holds a very dear place in our hearts because my parents used to own the Ridgefield Coffee Shop that was on Bailey Avenue,” Georgia Togridis said. “It closed down in 1992. We’re thrilled to be here again. It’s a beautiful town and a great community.”
