The Ridgefield League of Women Voters will host its fifth “Get to Know Your Town” meeting Tuesday, March 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the Town Hall lower-level conference room.

The league launched the series of educational programs for members and their fellow Ridgefielders to learn more about their town government.

Town Clerk Barbara Serfillipi and Registrar of Voters Cindy Bruno will speak at the March 13 meeting about their responsibilities in town. The league will also be celebrating Women’s History Month.

Light refreshments will be served at all meetings.

For more information, call league President Marilyn Carroll at 203-730-2667.

"The league has been very concerned about the divisive nature of  political discourse in this country and is doing everything we can to sponsor events and activities that give elected officials and those they represent an opportunity to discuss critical and sometimes controversial issues in a dignified, civil environment that shares factual information and diverse opinions," Carroll said in a press release this week. "That is exactly what the Get To Know Your Town meeting on March 13 and the Meet Your Legislators Meeting scheduled on March 24 at 1 p.m. at the library are about.

"Now, more than ever it is important for citizens to educate themselves and learn about the issues facing our community, state and nation so that they can take a position and speak out. Attending one of these meetings or other presentations by responsible organizations; listening to all points of view; 'marching' to have your voice heard (no matter what your stance) and voting — that is how we 'Make Democracy Work.'"
