Scout’s project benefits hikers
Christopher Auslander, a member of Boy Scout Troop 431, completed his Eagle Scout project at Peterson Gorge/Ridgebury Slope open space.
Christopher, a senior at Ridgefield High School, worked with the Ridgefield Conservation Commission on his project.
He got donations of materials and supervised the work of fellow Scouts in building two new footbridges over rocky streams in the Peterson Gorge/Ridgebury Slope trails. He also made the Ridgebury trail wider and more pronounced by removing brush and raking leaves.
Christopher has held several leadership roles in Troop 431, including senior patrol leader. He has been a member of the Boy Scouts since first grade, when he started as a Cub Scout in Pack 74.
Christopher said his family, the Conservation Commission, Home Depot, Dave Rose, the Mortinger family, and fellow Scouts helped make his project a success.
