Ridgefield resident and Morris Street Elementary School principal William Santarsiero recently celebrated an award from the National Blue Ribbon Schools program.

Morris Street Elementary, which is located in Danbury, was recognized by the Blue Ribbon program as a “School of Distinction,” finishing in Tier 1 of the top 10th percentile of all schools in the state. It was awarded for its academic excellence and for closing the achievement gap.

Santarsiero, who has lived on Limestone Road for more than 30 years, said his school has 370 students, with 82% minority students and close to 90% of students living in poverty.
