The Ridgefield Library will honor Paul and Dewey McNamara during its Great Expectations Gala next year.

The McNamaras will receive the Hope H. Swenson Visionary Award

The gala will take place May 4, 2019, at the Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., and will include a cocktail hour and sit-down dinner. The award is named for the late Hope Swenson, who for 35 years was a member of the Library Board.

The event will celebrate the McNamaras’ contributions to the Ridgefield Library over the years, including to the new building campaign ― both personally and through Mr. McNamara’s long association with Fairfield County Bank ― and their ongoing support of the library and other organizations in Ridgefield. Mr. McNamara is a past Ridgefield Library Board Member.

In addition, the McNamaras’ commitment to many local non-profits ― the RVNA, Danbury Hospital, The Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield, Ridgefield Fund and Branchville Fresh Air Fund and more ― aligns greatly with the library’s mission.

As Chairman of Fairfield County Bank since 1987, Mr. McNamara spearheaded over $1 million in donations to local organizations. Throughout his long career Mr. McNamara has been instrumental in creating economic growth and opportunity in our area and beyond through the development and support of individuals, local entrepreneurs and businesses. The Ridgefield Library joins the community in celebrating his recent retirement.
