Ridgefield Fire Department recognized at EMS awards dinner
Firefighter-medic Nick Paproski was recognized as Ridgefield’s Emergency Medical Service Provider of the Year at the Danbury Hospital’s annual EMS recognition dinner Tuesday, May 21.
Paproski was recognized for his excellence in emergency medical care, and his commitment to education both for himself as well as other providers through well prepared and delivered educational presentations. His research and investigations of emerging trends in EMS were also noted.
Capt. Rommie Duckworth received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
This award recognizes an individual who by their actions and innovative thinking contributed to expanding the future of the EMS field. The person’s contributions to pre-hospital care have been consistent and long lasting, representing a lifetime of outstanding service to the profession and the public.
The Ridgefield Fire Department was also recognized as the EMS Service of the year.
"This award is presented to the service that is noted to consistently work to improve their patient care through education and the service as a whole," said Fire Chief Jerry Myers. "The service should actively look for ways to recruit and retain their volunteers or employees and have a proven record of improvement."
