Seeking a little tropical island get-away without having to leave Ridgefield?  Then look no further than the Ridgefield A Better Chance “Taste of the Caribbean” barbecue!

This first-ever family-friendly event will take place at the Silver Spring County Club on Sunday, October 14th from 3-7pm.  The fun will include Latin dance demonstrations, steel drum music, games, photo booths, face painting, salsa lessons, hair braiding, raffles and a silent auction.  Delectable food and beverages passed hors doevres and a buffet dinner along with beer, wine, cocktails and mocktails will be served throughout the afternoon.

Established in 1987, the Ridgefield ABC program is a local chapter of a national, non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for gifted minority students from disadvantaged communities.  Each year, eight high school girls from around the county leave their homes and move to Ridgefield to study, work and live. Their high school years are spent involved in school, community, volunteer and host family activities.  Each girl who graduates from RHS leaves Ridgefield to attend a major college or university.

So, please join us for a Caribbean friend-raising adventure!  Meet the RABC scholars and hear about how their experiences in Ridgefield have changed their lives!  All ages are welcome! Admission is $75 for adults, $40 for teens and $25 for children. Children three and under will be admitted free.  Country club casual attire is requested.
