Ridgebury student earns three medals at national snowboard competition

Dreams do come true, just ask Zoe Guerrero.

The Ridgebury Elementary School student brought home a gold medal in the halfpipe competition at the USASA (United States of America Snowboard and FreeSki Association) Nationals in Copper Mountain, Colo., earlier this month, and got to meet Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim.

Zoe, who is sponsored by Burton Snowboards, competed with athletes from around the country compete in five different disciplines for a spot at nationals: Halfpipe, slope style, boardercross, slalom and giant slalom.

She won a silver medal in boardercross and a bronze in slope style, competing in the grommet girls division (8-9 years old).

Zoe, who trains with the Okemo Mountain Snowboard Team in Vermont, also received a prize for a second place overall in her division at Nationals.

"Zoe was also very happy to have her Snowboard and gold medal signed by Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim," her mom Eliza Kace Guerrero told The Press. "Zoe is very grateful for the support of family, coaches, friends and teachers at RES as well as her sponsor Burton Snowboards USA."
