The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra will host violin virtuoso Angelo Xiang Yu for a performance called, Mozart: A Magnificent Evening, at The Ridgefield Playhouse Saturday, March 17.

In addition to sweeping the First Prize, Bach and Audience Prizes at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition, Yu was awarded second prize at the Lipinski Wieniawski International Violin Competition and third prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition. Yu has also been chosen to join the roster of Lincoln Center's prestigious Chamber Music Society beginning with the 2018-19 season.

Yu and the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra will perform an all-Mozart program — Overture to Don Giovanni, Divertimento No. 1, Concerto for Violin No. 4, and Symphony No. 41 — at the March 17 concert.

The Mozart concert is followed by the RSO’s concert fundraiser at the Playhouse Saturday, April 21, 2018.

Break of Reality is widely regarded as one of the world's best "indie-classical" chamber ensembles, selling out concerts in North and South America, Europe and Asia. The band's signature cello rock sound unites a diverse fan base of classical, rock and world music lovers.

"We are very excited about our upcoming events at the Playhouse", says RSO Executive Director Laurie Kenagy. "Ridgefield not only has its own professional orchestra but brings world-class musical talent right here to our community. Tickets to the Mozart concert are going fast and the Break of Reality show will be an incredible live music experience as well as fundraiser for the RSO. We hope to see everyone there!"
