Police to carry the torch for Special Olympics ceremony June 8

Members of the Ridgefield Police Department will carry the “flame of hope” in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Connecticut Special Olympics, scheduled for Friday, June 8, at 9 a.m.

Ridgefield officers will run through town alongside the Special Olympians. They will start on Prospect Street, behind Dimitri’s Diner, and run through the center of town and along Main Street before circling back to end on Prospect Street.

“We encourage spectators to cheer the athletes and police officers,” the department said on its official Facebook page.

Anyone interested in donating to the event is asked to email Maj. Steve Brown at rpdmjr@ridgefieldct.org.
