O’Leary helps future leaders ‘Rock the Stage’
Comedian and teacher Christine O’Leary spoke to members of Ms President US Friday, Jan. 19, and told the group of aspiring future leaders to “Rock the Stage with Your Whole Self!”
With more than 50 girls in the room, O’Leary challenged the participants to be true to themselves, to support each other, and to give it their all as they plan for their own campaign for president.
“I am deeply interested and invested in helping — I have lots of prior experience working with kids and young people in professional, personal and public speaking arenas and am scored to contribute to my home plate in the name of young women presidents to be,” O’Leary said.
Following O’Leary’s highly interactive and energetic presentation, the girls started to practice their own speeches, with O’Leary’s support as she walked around the room coaching and encouraging them in their efforts.
From the perspective of a parent, Amanda Bergen, “Christine O’Leary’s can-do message really resonated with the girls. She was funny, relatable, and inspired them to think about the importance of having more women in leadership roles.”
The participants and mentors, concurred.
According to Maggie Fleuette, a fifth grader in the program, “it was one of my favorite sessions — she made public speaking really fun and it was good preparation for us.”
Girls in the program who choose to run for president will participate in an election on May 6 at The Ridgefield Playhouse.
Ali Hagani, a mentor from Woodbridge, remarked, “It was amazing to watch the girls overcome any fears and self-doubt to passionately and confidently share the platforms they are most eager to pursue … I am so happy that I got to be a part of it by helping them, too.”
O’Leary is a comedienne who brings the ‘funny’ to companies, colleges, charitable events, clubs and prides across the country – her favorite role is that of the host that ‘can make a show out of anything.’ Visit christineoleary.com to learn more.
