The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce welcomed a nonprofit organization, the Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT), as its newest member with a ribbon cutting on July 11.

The NRVT was founded in 2012 with a vision of building a ten-foot wide, 33 mile, multi-use through Norwalk, Wilton, Ridgefield, Redding, and Danbury.

The NRVT is in the beginning planning phase for the first 1.5 miles of the trail in Ridgefield, dubbed the Ridgefield Ramble, to start at the intersection of Simpaug Turnpike and Rt. 7, running north to the Redding line.

The Ramble will connect with the soon-to-be-constructed Redding Mile. Together, these two sections will provide a beautiful, 2.5 mile, off road trail winding through the woods and along the Norwalk River. The NRVT's ten-foot wide, packed stone dust trail is wheelchair accessible, making the trail available to people of all ages, and a wide variety of uses, even baby strollers and bicycles.

The goal of the NRVT is to construct the first section of the Ridgefield Ramble in 2019.
