League, library team up to promote National Disability Voter Registration Week
The Ridgefield League of Women Voters (RLWV) will be in the main lobby of the Ridgefield Library to provide voter registration opportunities for members of the disability community ages 18 and over Wednesday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Library and the RLWV have joined as partners in the “Rev Up” campaign, a nonpartisan initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities that coordinates with national, state, and local disability organizations to increase the political power of the disability community while also engaging candidates and the media on disability issues.
The campaign focuses on voter registration, education, access, and engagement. Rev Up stands for “Register! Educate! Vote! Use your Power!”
National Disability Voter Registration Week (NDVRW) is observed annually in the third week of July, just before the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In 2017, over 150 libraries around the country participated in NDVRW.
